Language Diversity
Southern Europe has a variety of languages spoken in its countries. Most of the languages are Romance languages, which include Spanish, Italian and Catalan. The other main group in Southern Europe, with much fewer speakers, is the Slavic language group and the Albanian language group. Some languages, such as Basque and Hungarian, are not Indo-European languages and are in separate families.
